Description

Description

Insulin Lantus is a trusted and effective treatment for diabetes, designed to mimic the body’s natural basal insulin. Its unique formulation ensures a slow and consistent release of insulin glargine, helping to maintain stable blood sugar levels throughout the day and night. This makes it an excellent choice for individuals with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who require long-term insulin therapy.

The pre-filled pens are convenient and easy to use, making them suitable for both beginners and experienced users. Each pen contains 3 ml of insulin, providing a precise dose with each injection. The clear solution is ready to use, eliminating the need for mixing or drawing insulin from a vial.

Ingredients

  • Insulin glargine (active ingredient)
  • Glycerol
  • Zinc chloride
  • Metacresol
  • Sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment)
  • Hydrochloric acid (for pH adjustment)
  • Water for injections

Instructions for Use

  • Always wash your hands before handling the pen.
  • Check the insulin solution for clarity – it should be clear and colourless. If the insulin solution is cloudy or contains particles, it should not be used.
  • Attach a new needle to the pen and prime it by dialling two units and pressing the plunger until insulin appears at the needle tip.
  • Dial your prescribed dose using the dose selector.
  • Inject the insulin subcutaneously (under the skin) into your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate injection sites to avoid lipodystrophy.
  • After injection, leave the needle in the skin for at least 10 seconds to ensure the full dose is delivered.
  • After each use, dispose of the needle properly. Do not reuse needles.

Potential Side Effects

  • Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar)
  • Injection site reactions (redness, swelling, or itching)
  • Allergic reactions (rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face and throat)
  • Weight gain
  • Lipodystrophy (thickening or hollowing of the skin at the injection site)
